Management consulting, otherwise known as operational consulting, is when external consultants assist companies and organizations with developing general management methods, operation maximization and solutions for any related issues they identify. Ultimately, management consulting strives to improve overall company performance and operations and find efficiencies. Management consultants usually perform the following job duties:

  • Analyzing company management objectives
  • Giving opinions on company performance
  • Assisting with project management tasks
  • Advising company on performance and management improvement techniques
  • Helping implement management methods
  • Reviewing company progress after implementation of improvements

For purposes of our meaning as the terms could mean something entirely different. For the most part consulting is more the exchange of advice on a single sector or multiple sectors of a company and could be short or long term. Management is the operation whether limited or in full control of one of more core tasks.

A consultation begins with an analysis of the sector or multiple sectors requested. (This is also what could determine length is whether someone wanted a one-time immediate review and plan without implementation, versus a year analysis with an end plan and implementation. More later.) 

This analysis is completed and presented in our case, to a team of experts in the field the subject is in, and then a plan with options and potential outcomes, positives and negatives is then developed and finally presented to the company. 

In some cases that concludes a consultation, or they could ask you to do one of two things or both being, take part in helping choose their route from options further, and lastly helping with the carrying out of the chosen route.

A company can easily decide based on how long they want a single or multiple sectors evaluated for and then whether or not they want assistance from there forward. They can always request the final two stages once the report is complete so ma y choose the report with options only to start. There is a savings for bundling together. 

The main answers needed for us to properly provide a quote are:

1. NAME

2. INDUSTRY 

3. HOW LONG IN BUSINESS 

4. SECTORS WANTING TO CONSULT IF FULL BUSINESS EVALUATION WRITE ALL

5. LENGTH OF EVALUATION Requested

6. Initial Interest for Implementation of final plan. We do plan for you to assist with implementing the plan. We do not currently plan for you to implement just provide the options and analysis with the understanding we can change that at a later date. 

Both consultation and management services can be short or long term with implementation or limited implementation.

Management Services though can be short term typically produce best results are achieved with longer relationships. We typically require at least a 1 year agreement for all management relationships, but the absolute minimum we will accept and only in rare occasions is 6 months. That gives us the minimal time to produce any meaningful results that are quantifiable.
